Internship interview experience
So, I'm currently a 3rd-year college student and I have to do an internship this year. I applied for an internship in so many companies that are still related to my major. I don't know exactly how many companies do I have applied for an internship. To be honest, applying for an internship is not as easy as you think and I just thought it would be even harder to apply for a professional job 😳😣.
From so many internship applications I have applied, I only get 2 calls for an interview. I have attended 2 different interviews. The first interview, it was FGD (focus group discussion), we were gathered in one room to discuss something about our self individually, company, and what are we going to do if we are accepted as an intern in that company. In my FGD interview experience, the recruiter gave us the same questions but we have to answer all of those questions from our own perspective. My second interview was face to face interview, only between the interviewer and I, just like doing interviews regularly.
And what I have learned from interviews are, they always ask you what have you done (I mean portfolio). First, these days, the portfolio is really important especially if it's relevant to the job that you apply for. Second, CV (Curriculum Vitae). Learn your CV before doing the interview, because the interviewers always ask you something that your CV has written. Like, they want more details about your organizations that you've ever involved in, what have you done there specifically, what have you learned from that, etc. Third, your skills. From 2 interviews I have attended, they asked me what is my skill that related to the position I've applied. Fourth, what you know about the company and position that you have applied for. Do research about the company and position you've applied before doing an interview. I think, they will know if you are serious or not when they asked you about the position and company. Last but not least, your look! It is really important because maybe someone will judge you by your cover, your look exactly! Spray some perfume to your body, not too much, but make sure your body has a good smell and fresh. So girls, put some make up on (not too much) and well dressed. Boys, prepare your self too! well dressed, good look, fresh, clean, not messy.
So, that's my little experience with my internship interview. It feels very nervous but you have to control your self, be who you are, and don't lie!
CMIIW readers! Because I might get wrong.
Thank you 😉
